conflict. In the absence of a declared war between the two, the
rivals were involved in military buildup and
political battles around the world. How did the stress of the
“Cold War” affect the Americans who lived through it? Join us for this
book – film discussion series to find out. Come and share
your personal experiences of this era, or learn by hearing what others
have to share. Participants will read four books and view four
films / documentaries that focus on “Cold War America” including
tonight's book (Dec. 4) The Manchurian Candidate by Richard Condon.
This series is funded in part by a grant from Humanities Iowa and the
National Endowment for the Humanities.
