Delaware
Receives $50,000 Safe Routes to School Program Funding

The Iowa Transportation Commission approved more than $1.7 million in
total funding for 17 Safe Routes to School projects. The Safe Routes to
School program was created with federal transportation funds in 2005
with the purpose of increasing the number of children safely walking
and bicycling to school. This funding is available to cities, counties,
state agencies, nonprofit organizations, and public and private schools
through an annual application-based program.
The projects and approved funding amounts are listed below.
Noninfrastructure
· Clinton County School District Safe Routes to
School Plan (East Central Intergovernmental Association), $50,000
· Delaware County School District Safe Routes to
School Plan (East Central Intergovernmental Association), $50,000
· Iowa Safe Routes to School (Iowa Bicycle
Coalition), $136,295
· Pleasant Valley Community School District Safe
Routes to School Study and Plan (Pleasant Valley Community School
District), $7,000
· Safe Routes to School: I-WALK Model (Iowa
Department of Public Health), $209,916
· Noninfrastructure costs for recommended
