ECI//NICC/Iowa Works/DALMC Offers Workshop on Drug Impairment

The Northeast Iowa Employers’ Council (ECI) in conjunction with Iowa
Works, Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC), and Dubuque Area Labor
Management Council (DALMC) are offering a workshop on “Signs and
Symptoms of Drug Impairment”. Corporal Steve Eastvedt, with the City of
Dubuque Police Department will be the guest speaker. Corporal Eastvedt
is a hostage negotiator, gang expert and a Certified Drug Recognition
Expert.
Drug impairment can impact workforce productivity and is a growing
concern for employers. Most drug users, binge and heavy drinkers, and
people with substance abuse disorders are employed. Corporal Eastvedt’s
presentation will cover the signs and symptoms of drug impairment,
provide information on workplace drug testing, and give the attendee
knowledge and awareness of the common drugs in our area.
This educational workshop will be offered at Iowa Works in the NICC
Town Clock Center for Professional Development at 680 Main Street,
Second Floor, Dubuque, Iowa from 9:00 am – 11:30 am on Tuesday,
February 23, 2010. The registration fee is $19.00. To register, please

The Northeast IA Employer’s Council, supported by Iowa Workforce
Development Region 1, including Dubuque, Delaware, Clayton, Fayette,
Allamakee, Chickasaw, Howard, and Winneshiek counties is part of the
statewide Employers’ Council of Iowa system. This council, in
partnership with NICC and DALMC, provides both educational and
networking opportunities for employers and human resource professionals.
