Winter Storm Watch Tonight, Tomorrow
Posted 8 December 2008
The
National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has issued a Winter Storm
Watch in effect from tonight, Monday, Dec. 8, through late tomorrow
night, Tuesday, Dec. 9.
The combination of snow, rain, freezing rain and sleet are likely to
bring hazardous travel to the area. Snow may be heavy at times late
tonight and into tomorrow, Tuesday, with significant snow accumulations
of 6 inches possible - especially along the Highway 20 corridor. Some
ice accumulations are also possible tonight into Tuesday morning. Snow
and blowing snow are expected to continue into Tuesday afternoon
through Tuesday night.
A Winter Storm Watch means there is the potential for significant snow,
sleet and/or ice accumulations that would seriously impact travel.
Motorists should monitor forecasts for updates.
