President
Bush Confident in Iowa's Recovery
Posted 20 June 2008
President Bush visited flood ravaged Cedar Rapids and Iowa City
yesterday, Thursday, June 19, in which may be his last visit as
president to the area.
Congressional escorts with the presidents say the nation's leader was
taken aback by the scope of flood damage he saw firsthand in Linn and
Johnson counties during an aerial tour via helicopter.
Bush assured flood victims and residents that the country will help
them recover.
The president was accompanied by Sen. Tom Harkin, U.S. Rep. Dave
Loebsack, White House budget director Jim Nussle and Iowa Governor Chet
Culver, amongst others, during his three and a half hour tour.
